ABB DP820 is een Profibus DP slave communicatie-interface module die speciaal is ontworpen voor S800 I/O-systemen. Hiermee kunnen standaard ABB S800 digitale (DI/DO) en analoge (AI/AO) I/O-modules worden aangesloten op besturingssystemen van derden (zoals Siemens S7-300/400, Rockwell) via Profibus DP veldbus. Gegevensuitwisseling kan worden uitgevoerd met ControlLogix, Schneider Modicon, etc. of de bovenliggende computer.

Standaard Profibus DP slave station functie:
Compatibel met Profibus DP-V0 protocol (ondersteunt cyclische gegevensuitwisseling)
Baudrate: 9,6 kbps tot 12 Mbps (automatische of handmatige configuratie)
Maximale input/output data: 244 bytes input + 244 bytes output (conform Profibus specificatie)
High-density I/O ondersteuning
Er kunnen maximaal 12 S800 I/O-modules worden aangesloten (breedte ≤ 540 mm)
Identificeert automatisch het type aangesloten I/O-modules en het aantal kanalen
Ondersteunt hybride configuratie (DI, DO, AI, AO combinatie)
Industriële communicatiebetrouwbaarheid
9-pins D-SUB interface (conform Profibus standaard)
Ingebouwde terminalweerstandschakelaar (kan worden ingeschakeld via software of hardware)
Anti-interferentie ontwerp, geschikt voor sterke elektromagnetische omgevingen
